Simple Clear and Doable Business

Do You Want
REAL Business?

Are you looking for ways to augment your current income from a JOB or a business? Do you WANT a REAL Business?

Well, quite frankly, I did not even treat this as a serious, and real business. In the onset I also did not see the immense size of this business!

After 4 Years in the Business, Fely and I finally saw the immensity of this business when we attended our company’s convention in San Jose California, USA in 2011.

Thousands of people attended from all over US and Canada, and from Asia. It had two venues and one is at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas with more than 30,000 Attendees. In that convention, we have met people who are ordinary people who shared their success stories in the business. It inspired us and opened up our minds to do more or this business. But what really is this IMG business?

IMG is a financial distribution company. As a business owner using the IMG System Fely and I are independent representative of a One-Stop-Shop of Financial Services. We represent various companies in different fields of service: the top three companies on Mutual Funds, top 4 Real Estate Development companies, and many other refutable and solid companies. The main MISSION is to FINANCIALLY EDUCATE our fellow Filipinos. Starting with our own FAMILIES.

We are broker dealers of all the financial services companies that were accredited by IMG so we earn the commissions ourselves for all our needs and for our families and friends needs as well. We simply by-pass the middle-man or the agent for we are the broker dealer ourselves. The best thing about our IMG Business is that it is our own business: we do not have a boss, we do not have quota, and we do not have time cards.

It depends on us on how big we want our business to be but our coaches are always ready to help us become successful. We do not earn by recruiting like what other networked business do. We do not personally handle the investments. We just simply share objectively to our families and friends the advantages and disadvantages of each of the investment vehicles and point them to what companies they can get into.

We share our own investment experience, what we do, and what we have achieved.

I just share my own experience on the companies that were scrutinized, studied and accredited by IMG and let the client decide. With IMG, we do a more objective assessment of products and services for we are not beholden to any single company. We can offer what is best to the client. We earn from our own safe and correct investments, and we earn from building our business all over the Philippines and all over Asia.

What we earn in business is combined active and passive income, while we also earn passive income generated by our properly guided and solidly founded investments. In fact, after 4 ½ years, our investment income enabled us to fund our children’s education, and our travels to Europe and Holy Land. We earned from our investments more than what we earned from bank deposits.

We love to travel so we were able to even combine business with pleasure. We travelled to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau and build our business outlets in those countries.

Our company is an international company allowed to do business in many different places in the world. We also travelled throughout the Philippines from as far as Cagayan in the North to Davao in the South and build successfully our business outlets in those places too.

We share what we do, and train people to be their own financial advisers, and help them set up their business. When we started this business, we have Nancy and Manny Martin, Malvin and Matin Leano, Malou and Vener Torres, Randy and Christy Canete, Jerry and Ana May Udarbe as our business partners.

Most of us were from Cavite and were former Intel employees (except for Randy and Christy and Jerry and Ana May) that were retrenched. We have varied business experiences but we all decided to pursue the IMG business. From that January 2010 Strategic Meeting to January of 2013 (3 years of serious business focus), we achieved our 4S: Structure, Strategy, System, and Schedules in making our business big.

By 2012, we were able to create more than 52 outlets helping these 52 people set up their own business and in the process enabled us (Fely and I) to earn passive income in different places of the Philippines and Asia. By September 2021, our reach has expanded to 68 Countries with more than 1200 Trainers/Coaches and a total membership of 74, 372. By June 2024, we were able to build more than 101,971 Members in 70 Countries with our team of 1675 Coaches!

Yanmar and Nanette Del Rosario whom we build in Singapore are Senior Executive Vice Chairman,  Malvin and Matin, Jerry and Ana May Udarbe are now EVC-Marketing Directors, and Manny Nancy Martin, Randy Christy Canete, and Candy Marudo who is in Qatar are CEO Marketing Directors, Malou and Vener Torres, are Senior Marketing Directors who are also building their outlets in different places all over the world.

They are all helping us be of help to thousands of people encountering financial difficulties like we were before. Using the same business system of IMG we are continually setting up our franchise outlets and we earn royalty incomes. We have 13 ways of earning and all are defined by a system and the commissions and earnings are computer system generated and can be monitored anywhere you are in the world.

Our company boast of the best compensation system in the financial services industry. Our final consideration in getting into the business is the capital requirements. The business options that I studied required more than half a million capitalization. And so we are so amazed and could not believe that with about 12K Php we can already set up and start up our own financial distribution business. With that amount we could already be a broker dealer for our own needs and we can also start up with our own proper saving and investing and start earning 5-6 figure Monthly Income.

What surprised us even more is that, even with just our own needs, we could already recover our capital. So actually, it was a no brainer decision making for us to plunge in to the business! On my point of view, I consider IMG Business not just as a financial services distribution business. It’s a business of changing people’s lives, and we earn by helping others properly save and invest.

I love this business for it is actually a business of love. What has love got to do with a business? When Fely and I executed our financial strategies that IMG has coached us to do, we actually made sure that whatever happens to our family will survive because we love them.

On the other end, since we also love ourselves, we made sure that we invest properly and safely for our future. In doing all these financial strategies we earn our own commissions from our own needs. Our very own love needs. And since we care and love our extended families and friends, we simply share what we do. That is how simple the business is, and it is all about love.

Within just 51/2 years of doing the business, we have a monthly cash flow that is even better than what we have gained as employees for more than 25 years. We have a passive income that is more than our retirement needs. We are truly blessed to have found the IMG business. Our own business that allow us to travel and monetized our competencies and passion, a business we can put up in many different places in the world.

A business that can be quick to set up with very little capitalization smacks perfectly with this IMG Business. Join us in this business so we can reach out to more people, change their lives, achieve their dreams, and make them enjoy the rewards the business offers! Thanks be to God!

Our Own Search For Business

Our search for business was very meticulous and long. We studied our options very carefully. We considered business like a car shop with parts and services, with internet cafe, and spa set-up. We also looked at franchising a gasoline station, a convenient store, a meat shop, and a fast-food. We also toyed with the idea of converting our home to a spa styled specialty restaurant.

We learned that successful business models we see are those that deal with distribution, a Business that has a system. Businesses that thrive are those that are of a One-Stop-Shop.

Manufacturers are no longer the king. I studied the business model the richest men in the Philippines. They have a one-stop-shop or a distribution. Take the case of Henry Sy. He owns SMDC, BDO, SM Malls and many allied businesses.

When he needs to build more malls, he gets the services to construct the mall from his own company SMDC. The funding he borrows from his own bank BDO. When the malls are completed the biggest renter is SM which he also owns. So his money just goes around his One-Stop-Shop.

I like to set up a business according to this one-stop shop model. There are many business opportunities one can grab and be good at. Dean Pax Lapid; one of the great advisers in the Wealth Circle founded by Bro Bo, said that the best opportunities in business are those that are related to Changes in The Environment or Climate Change, Innovation, Solving Someone’s Problems.

“To be successful, it must be better than just a copy”. Dean Pax also mentioned that “I learned from Kaplan Norton that we must be able to Describe, Measure or Manage, and multiply business to be successful.” I also learned from Bro Bo that “What was remarkable before is no longer remarkable now. The price of wow keeps on rising. A good business is a business that focus on relationships. Relationships lasts... products don’t. “

We also ask ourselves, what is a business that can give us the freedom to travel, use our talents and passion, generate income to support our needs, and earn for us passive income? Next thing we consider is how much investment do we have to risk and the return to investment we expect?

Fely and I love to eat out and so the first thing we check out is food business. In this line of business, there is the food source, and the outlets for cooked food. We have friends who went into franchised meat shops (food source- the initial part of the food business stream). In fact, there were several friends who had simultaneously put up in different locations a meat shop outlet.

Each outlet had more than 1M PHP of investment. My friend Nancy Martin and now my business partner in IMG also got into this franchised meat shop business. They were five of them who were in the same department in Intel who became partners in this franchised business. Each one of them put in half a million pesos to put up two branches. After two years of not making money one of the branches was closed down as it cannot compete with a market stall that sells meat at lower cost.

Their efforts to bring the business up were there. Nancy even had to spend more than 12 hours each day to check in the operations and controls of their outlets. But her efforts were not enough to even generate the commensurate returns to her investments and time.

Another friend Zen (not her real name) got into restaurant business (cooked food outlet- the end point of the food business stream). Not knowing anything about the business, it took less than 6 months for her restaurant to close shop. Why? Because she had no experience and she did not have a system to run her business.

Another friend Sue, who went into a franchised restaurant business, got a little luckier. But the franchised restaurant also closed shop in less than 3 years simply because her chosen location is not as accessible as other eateries in the area.

Their experience tells me that even if I like food, and food business is good to get into, I must ensure I have the passion and the competence about the business, and that location matters. I actually tried this restaurant business in a small scale first. I had it in my home for convenience and to ensure I do not put up big money for capital.

I had it run for several months and my clientele remained to be about 5-7 people. These same people ate lunch in our home-style cooking that after several weeks, they no longer get excited to eat at our place and they started to eat somewhere else.

You see my home is 4 km from the main road, and it is the only house in the area. Thus, my prospective clients are limited and my little business died. I learned the lesson of knowing my client base and putting a business in the right location first-hand.

Another business I studied was the gasoline station business. The capitalization runs to more than 5 Million PHP and the daily operational requirements runs to several hundreds of thousands to have decent returns.

I have two friends who are still in the business, but their stories about their daily pressures, and the cash flow controls they personally exert tells me this business is so demanding that I won’t be able to enjoy having travels which Fely and I love to do. And as of today 2021, only one of those friends remained in the business. The other friend unfortunately folded up in 2016.

Besides, the business owner in this line of business is actually owned by the business: a very "active" business venture. Moreover, fuels, and lubricants are not in my list of passion.

What about the internet cafe with spa, car shop, car wash and part and service center?

I love cars. That is my passion and my competence. I also love computers. I love to interact with people. This business scheme is an entirely new concept of being almost all in one.

I have already a by-line: "We take care and pamper you and your car" at the same time and place! I said to myself this will be our business. I can do this. It can earn for me income, I can use my talents.

But the capitalization will be running also by the millions. Besides, I did not see any possibility of passive income generation. This business will demand from me my presence and personal management and control. I do not want to risk our retirement money on this venture.

I also checked out the internet business. I got a lot of friends who got into internet cafe business. In the early stages this business was very profitable. My friend Malvin Leano and now my business partner still has an internet shop. A portion of his retirement money went into putting up his internet computer shop.

He was able to achieve about 30k PHP income per month in this business. But now he is earning less than this in spite of the fact he added more computers in his shop. And he sees his earning dwindling down further in this business in years to come in view of the many shops that have sprouted in their area.

Add to this, his operational cost keeps rising and he has to beef up his security controls against theft and vandalism. The business income is not permanent but in fact goes down on the long run. Furthermore, there is no passive income generation. This business of internet shop is just one of the components of the business I want to put up, and I already see major challenges and major investments.

This alone easily would need about half a million for the computers and the place. The operational expense will be the electricity, the salaries of the attendants, and the maintenance costs of computers. Add to these the security expense. If you combine this to what is needed for the car shop and the car parts, this will run to more than a million.

The biggest consideration in this business is the location and the size of the property it has to be set up in. It is way above what I would risk in a business.

There were other business opportunities that I considered. These are food cart stalls, drug outlets, office supplies and copying services, remittance service and many others including network marketing.  I did not see how we can use our core gifts and competencies in these businesses. Food, car, and drug related business are good business and some people are successful in it. But I did not have that needed passion in any of these businesses.

So what is the business that is aligned to my competence, passion, and risk tolerance? The answer was actually not found on “what” business, but “why” we got into a business. Since Fely and I had received retirement pay, our need was to learn and execute proper saving, investing and protection (insurance). We needed to learn how to make our money work for us.

When IMG introduced to us the concepts of proper money management and investing, we were also given the option to be the broker for our own needs. That was the business offer. That was “why” we joined and became part of the IMG Business. We got into the money business by buying our own financial services needs from ourselves. We did not have inventories of products to worry about. Nothing can be spoiled nor pilfered.

We became our own broker for our own financial service’s needs. It is aligned to our passion: training people, helping people help themselves and keeping families together.

It is aligned with our competencies as Fely and I were both experienced trainers in our previous job. It solves our money problem and many other people’s financial problems.

It has a lot to do with establishing relationships. Moreover, the risk and the business investment are so small that practically there is no risk. And the best thing about this business is that we earn by helping others to save and invest properly! And to top it all, we got to travel to many places, and we earn passive income as well!

So what is this IMG Business? Is it another one of those multilevel networked marketing? Is it working on pyramiding scheme? Is it legal and moral? How much will it take to put up?

Our Transformation

Looking back, it was mid of 2007 Fely was already notified by her company that her job will be eliminated and thus her position will no longer exist. She was identified for early retirement. So before she actually reached her last day in office, we searched for guidance how we will be able to manage our finances. We bought and read books.

We attended seminars and studied different business options. During this time I was still employed, and Fely was still receiving her monthly salary. There was not as much pressure to embark on a business at this time.

November of that year, we decided to join a company named International Marketing Group-IMG. This is after we learned about it in Bro Bo Sanchez's Truly Rich Coaching Seminar. Our only motivation is for us to become the broker for all our financial services needs such as our investments, property insurance, and healthcare.

We did not seriously consider yet any business as I was still employed and receives my monthly income. We just wanted to make sure we get our finances in order and have the retirement money of Fely invested properly. For me, business takes the back seat. It is not a priority.

However, one year later, “kaboooom”, it was my turn to be retired by the company I worked for. I was forced to put some effort in the business that IMG offered but I was half hearted. I was not focused on business. I still hoped that I could go back to being an employee. Career in manufacturing was my comfort zone. My money mind set has not been fully converted.

I was still programmed to be an employee. My JOB attachments and my brains are too tough to breakdown.

But months passed and I was not lucky, or looking back, I was so lucky I did not find a job!

...to be continued...
Our JOB (Journey Of the Broke)

Fely and I were both first engineers in our respective family.

We were high flyers in Elementary, High School and College. Fely graduated Valedictorian in Elementary and is consistent honor student in High School, while I am always in the Top 5 of the class.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering on a Scholarship Grant by the National State Scholarship of the Philippine Government.

My studies were motivated by a dream of making it good in school and landing a good job.

My parents wanted me to complete my engineering so I can land a good job in a company. Work on the company and retire in it.

After my graduation (just a few years ago…1978 ehem...), I was taken in as an Instructor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Adamson University.

For three years I was in the academe and as fate would have it, this university is where Fely and I would meet and fall in love (I still feel the “kilig” even after so many years… ha ha ha!)

My first taste of an industry exposure is at Intel Philippines. It was the largest semiconductor manufacturing company at that time I was employed (May 15, 1981).

After two years in that company, Fely also joined the company too. We were not yet married at that time. We both enjoyed good paying job. We then got married in 1984 and were happy to have our combined income to be more than we need.

We also had the opportunity to travel overseas for training. We were very good in what we do and got ourselves go up the corporate ladder. So who needs to get into business at this state?

Fely stayed on with Intel and completed about 25 years of faithful service. I moved from Intel (10 years) to Amkor (10 years) to Orient Semicon (7 years). For many years, we enjoyed our career growth and our pay increase.

Our major wins and achievements in our job hypnotized us to believe that our jobs can bring us to our comfortable retirement.

We programmed ourselves to retire at age 60 and then enjoy our retirement. Early on with our career, we were high flyers. That was in the first decade 1981-1990.

We were caught in a tumultuous and fast changing decade beginning 2001 to 2010. The decade that saw the world economy giants start to collapse.

Many companies started to do drastic cost cutting measures. Our respective companies started also to shrink their factories, and consolidate their resources.

I faced the greatest fears in my JOB: retrenchment, redundancy, early retirement and outright cutting headcounts (same objectives with different names- reduced manpower).

The third decade was the most disastrous part of our career. What we thought as retirement at age 60 came early. Actually it was too early as Fely was just 48, and I was 52 when the company we worked for retired us.

Fely's retirement was a little more pleasant than mine. She was given at least 6 months of transition prior to her actual separation from her company. Mine was totally different. It was a terrible experience.
INTRODUCTION:

Fely and I had long wanted to have our own business. I know you too want to have your own business before you retire.

In fact many of our friends who got their early retirement money put up on their own business. Unfortunately more than half of the people we know who went into business went bankrupt and lost their money.

Early on in our career in the Semicon Manufacturing we wanted to put up our own business. However, our education set us up for employment.

Our family experience also limited us to “sari-sari store” (convenient store) business. It was the business our parents had. It was short lived and did not even prosper.

For many years, I and Fely's had a great desire to set-up our own business but we were not able to pursue it because of our fear of failure. Besides, our comfort zone was employment.

We are so thankful that with IMG-International Marketing Group. All of this had been changed and our dream of having our own successful business had come true!

We want to share in this book our successful transformation from being an engineer to an entrepreneur in a business that is really Simple Fast Clear and Doable...You Can Do It Too!
